#180 Online banking

With online banking, life just gets easier and less complicated. You don't have to run to the bank just to check your balance, if your pay salary has come or the deposit from someone went in to your account. You also don't have to leave work at office hours just to fund your checking account, you can transfer funds from one account to another online in just a click of a mouse. They even have additional services like payments, mobile services and credit card services, which I haven't tried yet.

#179 On the sunny side of the street

I have been listening to Crossover FM since college, well atleast every now and then.  I thought their station theme song was their original, until I stumble upon this song. Cool!

#177 Having a "I am the King of the world!" experience

Who doesn't remember this famous scene and also maybe recreated when they where riding the roro or a bangka? Coming home from office dismayed from my boss and to relieve some stress, I come looking for decent movie from my archive. This movie just popped up, or maybe Celine Dion's My Heart Goes on, is stuck in my head recently haha. I must say hands down this movie is the most popular to come on the big screen. Although Avatar has surpassed this movie in the all-time blockbuster list, this movie has produced many unforgettable scene like this one. Awesome scene from an awesome movie! Anyway, recently life has been on the upswing for the past few months for me, career, money, health, relationships! And you can shout to the universe: "I am the king of the world!" =)

#175 Watching a magic show

One Friday night, together with a friend, we were off to Resorts World to try out a different attraction. We have tried concerts, stand up comedy and bar shows, but this time it is a magic show! Yes the price was a little stiff considering our seating is already the second from the back, but it was all worth it. The wonder of magic! The awe and wonder of feeling like a child again!

Videos below are not in the Philippines, but they are some of the performers at the Masters of Illusions show.

#174 Neighbors without wi-fi password

I don't have mobile data plan, so wherever I am, always on the hunt for free wifi hehe, checking those FB feeds, twitter posts, and office email, etc. I maybe on a friend's house or in the province, and I am grateful for those who share their internet wifi's. There are those who doesn't secure their wifi with password cause they don't know how to configure their routers hehe, and there are also those who intentionally share their internet!

#173 Swimming on a heated pool on a cold rainy night

I can't find a perfect picture in the net but you know what I mean. I was passing by our condo's community pool and I feel so cold for the swimmers, just seeing them makes me shiver. And I remember those night swimmings in Pansol hot springs in Los Banos, so warm and so good all through the night.

#171 The moment when you recover from brain freeze

Also known as sphenopalatine ganglioneuralgia, brain freeze is the pain you feel when you consume chilled food or beverage like ice cream or cold beer fresh out of the freezer or fridge. The pain is weird and temporary, and the moment when you recover from brain freeze..

#170 Finding an awesome jogging path

One of my favorite place is all over the news recently. Its the Heritage Park =)

I go there regularly as I jog there more and more recently, sometimes 2 to 3 times a week, depending on my availability. I love its clean surroundings, bermuda grass covered grounds, tree lined paths and of course lots of joggers as well, which makes you motivated and inspired to run!

It is about 15 minute walk from my place, which pretty serves as my warm up as well hehe. A little stretching, then a 30-minute jog. Already a decent workout and run, and keeps me conditioned for my occassional fun runs. Hopefully I'll do a half-marathon, then a full marathon!

#169 Babalu

When Panchito passed away (Dolphy's long time on-screen sidekick), Babalu took over. But in their movie together, Babalu cracks me up more of the two. His demeanor, the way he speaks, his style of comedy acting and of course his 'baba'. Dolphy and the rest of comedian are good in what they do, but Babalu produces the hard laughs and the guffaws for me, those moments when you will cry from laughing. He's mere presence in the the scene is already funny.

#168 The Home Along the Riles opening theme

Estong, Bing, Kevin, Baldo, Maybeline, Bill, Azon and Bob Cosme
I love Home along the Riles, although John and Marsha was the first opportunity I saw Dolphy in TV, I was too young to remember John Puruntong. Rather, Kevin Cosme and the Cosme family, together with the Sunog Baga boys was my weekly companion during my high school then later college days. I grew up in the boob tube generation lovingly following, including the other show Okay Ka, Fairy Ko. Rare show, where I could remember all the cast and characters, Azon, Mang Tomas and the rest of the Sunog Baga boys, Steve Carpio (Bernardo Bernardo) and the rest of the office girls, and Richy (Babalu).

I love this simple yet catchy opening tune of the show, and I still haven't forgotten the lyrics haha especially the chorus:

Home along the riles
Home along the riles
Ito ang aming home sweet home (choo-choo!)
Umuuga, lumilindol!
Kumapit ka, kumapit ka
Kung ayaw mong magkabukol!

#167 Belonging to a group

Abraham Maslow's hierarchy of needs ranked it as the third most: love and belonging!

Isn't life nice to belong and accepted as a member of a group? Whether it be family, friends, family, co-workers, a barangay basketball team, or your church group. As humans, we have an inherent desire to belong and be an important part of something greater than ourselves, and the need for strong, stable relationships with other people more than just a simple acquaintance.

Group lakwatsa, group dinner, group travel, group activities: life is more fun with friends! Being completely accepted as you are: life is better with friends!

#166 Those cute and at the same time 'friendly' receptionists and frontdesks

John Keats said "a thing of beauty is a joy forever", indeed it is. Like children of gods (anak ng diyos hehe), gifted with those nicely contoured faces, unblemished facial features sculpted by the masters. One look and you will be connected with the beauty of life, and seem that everything is okay... One smile and your tension is lowered down a notch, your concern disappeared in thin air. Madaya hehe. Cute and at the same time friendly and helpful receptionists and front desks... one thing to look for.

#165 Wearing your new pair of shoes

I still remember my first ever rubber shoes, the Mighty Kid! Since I came from a poor family, I had a first taste of rubber shoes when I was already in kindergarten hehe. MK is not availalbe anymore in production, company may have folded, not sure about this. But sayang they're gone. Anyway, now that I can afford to buy my own shoes (that in itself is something to be grateful for) hehe, the act of wearing the new shoes is really awesome (especially if its a high-end Nike haha).. You carefully took it off the box, preferably wear a new socks too, are extremely careful walking it, don't want even the mud or dirt to stick on it.

#163 Crying on a good movie

I was checking out Switchfoot online and found out that much of the soundtrack of the movie "A Walk to Remember" was done by them. A couple of megabytes later (thank you torrent!) Landon and Jamie were on my screen (played by Shane West and Mandy Moore). I caught bits and pieces of this movie long time ago when it became popular but it is only now that i caught the film in its entirety. And damn, was it a good movie, and I can't help but be be in love, and hooked by the story of the two. Cried a few times, especially when Landon thanked his father for his help, and the other one when they were being married. And in the end when the pastor father said that her miracle came true in him (Landon). A keeper movie. Also a tip: good for a date movie or cuddle time with your special someone.

#160 Watching Wimbledon and the tennis grunts

So its Wimbledon time again. The premier tennis tournament in the globe and the only tennis tournament that I love follow. The grass court, the hi-tech stadium with that mechanical roof that closes in case it rains, that awesome Hawk-eye line calling technology (automatic replay use to check whether a ball is in or outside the line)  and oh, that all-white uniform dress code.

Oh no, Maria Sharapova is already out, the princess looking tennis player and my favorite grunter haha. Brits are happy Andy Murray is nearing the finals, after a long while since Tim Henman. He has a great chance since he doesn't have to play Nadal to reach the finals.

#156 "UP" intro scene

The love story of Carl and Elie.

What Twilight saga attempted in three books, Pixar achieved in just 9 minutes or less. =)

Loved it the first time I see it... and shed a tear. Goosebumps! Enjoy below the love story of Carl and Ellie.

#155 Eating a really ripe cavendish banana

"CAVENDISH" bananas, those giant yellow bananas usually marketed by Dole and sold at 7-11 shops?

You know that point where it is really really ripe and one more day and it will be not good to eat. Awesome!  So sweet and delicious.

#154 Your birthday month!

Its officially July... and yes, one out of the 31 days there, is my birthday! The month's name.. they take the queue from Julius Ceasar's, the Roman emperor which was deified as god, hence the name "July" (hmm i just realized why my parents named me Joel, i just thought it was random).  Its the seventh month of the year, and that is why my affinity for the number 7.

In the US, they celebrate the Fourth of July, but in the Philippines, its actually an uneventful month, no big holidays, no vacations hehe. Anyway, its my month. I know the universe and divine entities will conspire to bring more goodies this month haha! and the coming months and years.. And more and more reason to be grateful for..
