#225 City lights at night

Before I retire and head for the bed, I do not fail to admire the city lights, and say to myself.. Wow! Different colors like blue, red, orange, green, and the usual yellow and white fill the night. So peaceful and so beautiful, amid the hustle and bustle of the city life.

City light's view from my bedrooms' balcony in Taguig. Sayang, the picture doesnt capture different colors like blue, red, orange.

I copied this pic from christelledee.blogspot.com. This is the city lights from Makati area.

#222 Kaimito na galing sa ref

I grew up with a lot of trees around in the province. We used to climb santol, mangga, and kaimito trees with my cousins when we were young. There are also duhat, chico, aratiles, in looban where relatives live (mostly cousins in my mother's part). Among my favorite are kaimito and chico. Yummy! I love sweet fruits, and I don't like hilaw na mangga. And I found out that putting kaimito in the refrigerator... is yummier!

#221 Have some laugh with Just for Laughs

This show can be seen on Disney Channel, and also in GMA newsTV. The show that Wow Mali tried to imitate.

Go ahead lighten up and have some laugh. I googled that laughing reduces stress hormones and increases the health-enhancing hormones endorphin and neurotransmitters, a study which can be found here.

#220 Sinaing na tulingan and itlog na pula at kamatis

If you have this on the table, I will be emptying my plate and looking for a second serving of rice. My bayaw cooks wicked sinaing na tulingan, and pair that with salted eggs (itlog na pula) plus tomatoes plus pikong mangga, and you get an awesome lunch!

Just keep swimming

When life gets you down, know what to do? Dory from Finding Nemo puts it simply..

DORY: "Hey Mr. Grumpy Gills! When life gets you down, you know what you gonna do?
Just keep swimming.. just keep swimming... just keep swimming, swimming, swimming!
What do we do? We swim! Hahahaha hoho... "

As the famous physicist Albert Einstein once said:
"Life is like riding a bike. To keep your balance you must keep on moving"

#219 Making someone really really happy

I just gifted someone with unlimited mobile data plan, and my golly was she ecstatic. We were talking on the phone and you can feel and hear the giddyness and kilig, as she gets unlimited instagram, facebook, twitter, viber, 8tracks music, youtube, on her cell. I gave her temporarily my plan 999 for Globe since my office provided me with another mobile plan. Good for her, but making someone happy... a  really happy feeling too...

#217 Batibot and reminiscing the childhood days

Kuya Bodjie, Ate Sienna, Pong Pagong, Kiko Matsing, Manang Bola, Irma Daldal and the whole gang. Who will ever forget them, especially if you're a kid from the 80's. Even the songs Bangkang Papel, Alin ang Naiba, Alaga naming si Puti, Ako ang Kapitbahay is still stucked in my head like LSS and know the words by heart! Wow... childhood days!

#216 Pica-pica food trip

Me and my girl were a little playful last Sunday. Instead in eating onetime bigtime in one resto, we ate one food at a time whatever we want. I say it is fun doing this (paonti onti). It is awesome as we enjoy each food and not force it down the throat just to finish (which we sometimes do in restos)  and we were surprised that we were full until the evening of that day.

We started with a cake at  Banapple

Gumballs

Some breads at BreadTalk

Jumbo Fries at Potato Corner

Super Taro at Quickly

Popcorn from Kingcorn, while watching 'Warm Bodies'

Potato wedges and chicken pops from Duo's

Thoughts on reaching 50

My sister reached a milestone. Well actually three of them already did. Reaching their golden age. Half a century. Fifty times around the sun. Wow.

As cliche as it sounds, time flies really fast. I still remember them being college students, in our house doing household chores, studying and single! It seems like only yesterday.  And a couple of decades more or so and I would reach that threshold also.

And to think so few humans now reach a century mark! (According to the a recent UN report, Filipinos have an average dying age of 71.7 years), so that means 20 or so years left of stay in this plane of existence. And after that, gone. Bye bye. Oblivion! hehe..

Make the most of time we have right NOW. As author Gretchen Rubin says, "the years are long but the days are short!"

#215 Guitar solos

Ever watched the movie 'Back to the Future' starring Michael J. Fox as Marty McFly? There he played Chuck Barry's Johnny B. Goode in the Senior Prom ball cause the lead guitarist and frontman of  the band injured his hand. I soo love this scene, and you can totally relate how awesome guitar solos are. Here is the scene from the movie:

Awesome, awesome... Here below are some favorite songs with face twitching and sick guitar solos!

Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody:

Gun's and Roses' November Rain:

GNR's Sweet Child O Mine:

Eagle's Hotel California:

Led Zeppelin's Stairway to Heaven:

Santana's Smooth

#214 Be the miracle! : Bruce Almighty

I just caught this movie on Star Movies. And let me say if you can rent it, or download it or see another screening on Star, do so. The movie is a comedy but the take on the profound and on spirituality is subtle and cool. Jim Carrey is as usual irrepressible, Steve Carrell is hilarious and throw in the lovely yet funny Jennifer Aniston and you get a good cast. This movie is successful that's why they created Evan Almighty starring Steve Carrell (Evan Baxter), and part 2 is on the talks. There are no dull moments, and many hilarious and perfect scenes, but what I love most is the exchanges between God and Bruce.

I loved this dialogue on the movie:

GOD: "Parting your soup is not a miracle Bruce, it's a magic trick. A single mom who's working two jobs, and still finds time to take her son to soccer practice, that's a miracle. A teenager who says "no" to drugs and "yes" to an education, that's a miracle. People want me to do everything for them. What they don't realize is *they* have the power. You want to see a miracle, son? Be the miracle."
